Lippomix's Borage Oil is Cold Pressed and Hexane Free:
|
New research reveals millions of Americans are deficient in the vital digestive enzyme called D6D (delta-6 desaturase) required to convert flax oil into EPA and GLA, the two nutrients that fight inflammation. Unlike flax seed oil, borage and fish oils do not require that problematic enzyme, and are fast replacing flax oil among informed dieters.
- In an open pilot study, forty-eight children with infantile seborrheic dermatitis were treated with borage oil (0.5 ml) applied to the diaper region twice daily. Within ten to twelve days, all the children were free from skin lesions, even in the areas not treated with borage. Moreover, using the oil topically two to three times a week kept the seborrhea in remission until the patients were six to seven months old. There were no relapses after the oil was discontinued. Tolleson A, Frithz A. Borage oil, an effective new treatment for infantile seborrhoeic dermatitis. Br J Dermatol 1993;25:95.
- In the interests of public safety, borage oil should be PA free and follow the example set by the German Health Agency, which suggests that no more than 1 mcg of PA be consumed daily when the herb is taken as directed. Although there are no known reports of health hazards when using GLA from borage, because it does contain small amounts of PA, its use during pregnancy and lactation is not recommended.DeSmet PAGM.
