COMBINING L-Carnitine, r-Alpha Lipoic Acid and CoQ10:
One of the key uses of Acetyl-l-carnitine is for fatty acid oxidation-helping users burn unwanted body fat. Fatty acids are one of the key energy sources the body uses, and oxidation is the process by which they are broken down for energy. The fatty acids cannot penetrate the inner mitochondria membrane (where they are burned for energy), and the key role for l-carnitine is to transport fatty acids across the mitochondra membrane to allow for oxidation of the fats. Unlike Vitamin C which is water soluble and Vitamin E which is fat soluble, r-Alpha Lipoic Acid (r-ALA) is both water and fat soluble which allows it to enter all parts of the cell to neutralize free radicals. Not only does it act as an antioxidant itself, it also stimulates production of glutathione (an antioxidant produced by the body), giving cells a double dose of antioxidant. r-ALA is easily absorbed when taken orally and once inside cells is quickly converted to its most potent form, dihydrolipoic acid. Because both alpha lipoic acid and dihydrolipoic acid are antioxidants, their combined actions give them greater antioxidant potency than any natural antioxidant now known. CoQ10 acts as an antioxidant, much like vitamins C and E, helping to neutralize the cell-damaging molecules known as free radicals.

Is all Alpha Lipoic Acid the same? Definitive answer: NO! There are two forms of Alpha Lipoic Acid, r-ALA and s-ALA:
Lippomix provides you with r-ALA, which is is the form found naturally occurring within the body and is the biologically active form of alpha lipoic acid. The synthetic by product that is produced during the production of Alpha Lipoic Acid is s-ALA, which is unnatural, and
synthetic. The synthetic (s-ALA) is not sold by itself, as it is not effective. Please be aware that,
you will definately be receiving a mixture of natural(r-) and synthetic(s-), hence the name rs-ALA, anytime you purchase Alpha Lipoic Acid, unless the label clearly

Acid, even though it is more than 10 TIMES the cost of rs-ALA.
Lippomix's r-Alpha Lipoic Acid (r-ALA) has gone through the complicated and expensive process required to purify and remove the (synthetic) s-Alpha Lipoic Acid (s-ALA). Be aware that unless the bottle specifically states r-ALA, you are only getting a 50/50 blend of Alpha Lipoic Acid, otherwise known as rs-ALA.
Doctors and researchers have stated, time and again, how much more effective the natural (r-ALA) is. Studies have shown that r-ALA is up to 12 times as effective as rs-ALA:
r- Alpha Lipoic Acid is a universal antioxidant supporting healthy glucose metabolism, nerve and eye tissues. It has been found to increase the levels of glutathione, a very important antioxidant normally found in our cells and responsible for mopping up all types of toxins and free radicals. Glutathione supplements, however, are not helpful since glutathione does not have the ability to cross cell membranes. Fortunately, both laboratory and animal studies have shown that alpha lipoic acid can stimulate the production of this antioxidant. This is particularly important during periods of excessive stress or exposure to radiation or toxic substances. Alpha lipoic acid also acts as a powerful antioxidant in the brain and is likely to protect brain cells from toxins.
